Subcision

Break Free from Deep Acne Scars.

Subcision treats deep acne scars by releasing fibrous bands beneath the skin, smoothing out depressions for a more even texture. A simple, effective solution for scar improvement!

Types of acne scars

Acne scars can be categorized into three types:

  • Ice Pick Scars (small but deep)
  • Boxed Scars (shallow with a flat depression)
  • Rolling Scars (gradual, wave-like depressions)

Among these, Subcision is particularly effective for rolling scars. Rolling scars occur when fibrous bands tether the skin down, creating uneven, wavy indentations. By breaking these fibers with Subcision, the skin surface becomes smoother.

For other types of acne scars, treatments like POTENZA help refine scar edges and promote skin regeneration. Since most people have a mix of scar types, combining Subcision with POTENZA can enhance overall results.

If you’re unsure about your scar type, we recommend a consultation to determine the best treatment for your skin.

What is Subcision?

One cause of acne scars is fibrous bands beneath the skin pulling it downward, creating surface indentations. Subcision is a treatment that involves inserting a needle under the skin to cut these fibers, releasing the tension and smoothing out the surface.

There are two types of Subcision:
1. Standard Subcision, which simply cuts the fibrous bands.
2. Subcision with Hyaluronic Acid, which enhances results.

Unlike traditional filler injections, soft hyaluronic acid is injected into the space created by Subcision, lifting the skin while preventing re-adhesion. This boosts the effectiveness of each treatment.

Hyaluronic acid dissolves in about six months, but during that time, it promotes collagen production and skin improvement. For severe acne scars, we highly recommend combining Subcision with hyaluronic acid.

Features of Subcision

Gentle Treatment with No Scarring

Subcision is a minimally invasive procedure that uses a special medical needle instead of cutting the skin, ensuring no visible scars. Mild bruising may occur for 1–2 weeks, but it naturally fades over time.

Smooths Out Uneven Skin

By releasing adhesions, Subcision stimulates the skin’s natural healing process and turnover, helping to smooth out acne scars and improve skin texture.

Enhanced Results with Multiple Sessions

For optimal results, multiple treatments are recommended. Three sessions at one-month intervals can significantly improve the appearance of acne scars.
